VIBC Disorienting Bhangra talks about the bhangra culture and it's impacts
With such anticipation and excitement I attended a VIBC event called Disorienting Bhangra where a panel discussed the impact of the bhangra culture with today's generation of youth. Various topics from the role of girls in bhangra to guys dressing up in suits, salwars to giddha were discussed. Overall it was a great event with some great conversation and epic dialogue.
It was great hearing from the panel which consisted of Tarun Nayer from Delhi to Dublin, DJ Goddess, SMD Bhangra and Rayman Bhuller. The whole forum was narrated by Sharad Khare an accredited digital media correspondent who has interviewed and conversed with the likes of his holiness the Dalia Lama.
I hope these kinds of forums continue to happen because we really need to understand the importance of the bhangra culture and how it impacts our youth. If it wasn't for bhangra music, I wouldn't be part of my culture or give a shit about my Panjabi roots and origins. It's the work of the above people in the panel and the sum of all the great advancements we have done as a thriving culture that keeps me excited and wanting more.
Below is a quick video/vlog highlight of the event.
